At Centralian Middle School, Indonesian, Japanese, Arrernte and Chinese are taught. Languages at middle school level are compulsory in year 7, 8 and 9. Classes are taught twice a week and are of 50-60 minutes duration.
In 2016, the year 9 Arrernte students will be trialling a new vocational program aimed at teaching students the foundation skills to translating and interpreting which will create a pathway for future study for our students. The ASLC is very excited to be offering such a valuable course to our students.
Centralian Midle School students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of activites to enhance their language learning. A favourite for all students are cooking classes, where the class cooks a meal that originated in the country of the language they are learning.
